The EPSF operates in Southeast Asia and South Africa. Danish International Development Assistance (Danida) activities in the Lower Mekong Region have since 1993 been carried out under EPSF. The overall aim of regional Danish environmental assistance in the Lower Mekong Region is to assist countries in establishing the preconditions for rapid financial and social development in the region on a basis that is environmentally sound from a global, regional and local point of view. It is also to ensure that cooperation is formed on the basis of an active dialogue with authorities, institutions and the private sector in the region. The assistance is - as Danish development assistance in general - oriented toward poverty reduction and is also focussed on cross-cutting areas such as gender, promoting democracy and human rights. The main activities have been within fisheries, agriculture, water resources, environment and capacity building. Website of Danish embassy in Vietnam: www.dk-vn.dk
